In the past therew ouldn't have been such a cross section of the American public that would've been involved. It would've only been mostly made of of gay men and totally based on that alone. It's a disease that can affect anyone. Children can be at risk as any adult. I think that is another area that most people are unaware of.

I am pleased to hear that the group was made up of a diverse cross section of the American population. I think there are a lot of ignorant people who have believed for years that HIV/AIDS was a disease of gay men and drug addicts. I think that most educated people are aware that this is a disease that can affect anyone, and really needs to be stopped. I think that this organized National HIV/AIDS strategy has the potential to erase many of the stigmas associate with people who are infected, and in so doing increase the understanding of the illness nationwide, and hopefully increase general compassion and empathy for those who deal with this disease every day.

I am very excited to read that the group consisted of a diverse population. I have worked as a case manager in the field of HIV for 5 yrs. I have developed a passion for HIV. Some of the issues that my patients and my self faced is the lack of funding. I live in a low incident state so the funding is minimual. A trend that we have seen is that many people are moving back to the midwest but the funding is not. In the plan I would like to see more collaboration between the HIV services. I see many services being duplicated which i feel is not cost effective. There are to many parts to the funding and the different parts have there own set of rules. Thank you everyone who is working very hard to make a comprehensive plan. If I could assist in anyway, I would be honored to help. Thank you Sarah Davis

Please ensure that the hearing impaired community is also included during the discussions. It would also be nice to be able to access the transcripts of the meeting, and to be informed in advance of future meetings and the process to select the attendees.

It appears the forum was informative and could advance the course of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. A listening session like this may benefit some international NGOs especially in updating their HIV/AIDS implementation strategies, strengthening their HIV workforce capacity, addressing HIV-related stigma, and finding the latest treatment and prevention plans. I thought it will be nice to leave such invitation open for some US-based NGOs with on-going HIV/AIDS programs in overseas to attend. This, I believe, will help to advance the global health initiative as well as the PEPFAR-II strategies. Thank you for the good work!
