I have been HIV positive since 2001 and the clinic that I took this test did not tell me I had the disease until I found out I was carrying me son in 2004. I was hurt and depressed because, I did not know. That has been years ago and If I knew what I then waht I know now, I would have sued the clinic. However, My HIV has been undetectable since I found out in 2004. I am not on any meds at the time because, my body is fighting the disease on its own. I get check-ups every six months and the doctor is in awe of how my body is holding off the disease. Thank you Mr. President for getting involved in this study. This is truely a big step and I hope thing will go for the better in 2011.

Mr. President -- Thank you for your vocal support and leadership. I'm priveleged to work with some of the world's most brilliant, dedicated medical researchers on this decades-long pandemic. But more importantly, perhaps, I cannot thank the clinical study volunteers--for this this study and the hundreds of others since the HIV virus that causes AIDS was discovered. All I do is communications to help spread the word and help attract volunteers to studies (we all have our gifts, but mine were appreciation of science, not the actually doing of it!). But the people from here in Seattle at the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (yes, we MUST find a vaccine for HIV if we hope to truly end the pandemic) to those in our Network around the world are SO CHEERED by the iPrEx study results. We congratulate the researchers, the volunteers and the NIH!

Tired of hiding out an osillation we HIV's would like not to be stereotyped as a gay disease. Anyone can get the HIV disease. I feel sorry for the ones who do not know if they HIV infected or not these days they have so many quick painless test. Nobody should be without their status info. Mandatory testing maybe a gift certificate in the amount of a free meal at a local fast food restaurant as a appreciation gift for performing the testing.. In the school system should have mandatory health classes that teach about the HIV and STD disease in the world. Kids out the are practicing unsafe sex and take that risk with their life. Being aware and having the right informative questions and answers for the health issues.
