This year, for National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Denver Metro Community will be hosting our 2nd Colorado Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Summit. Our local theme is, "A Life Worth Saving". There will be opportunities for grassroots activists, churches and organizations to share about the work they're doing in the community. Our panels will include MSM, Transgender, Formerly Incarcerated and the African American Religious Communities.
We will also be focused on providing HIV 101 Basic Education, HIV and African American Men and HIP Hop Youth and Protection.
My personal role as part of the Religious Communities panel is to exhort and encourage religious communities to open up their doors to educating their congregants and youth about HIV/AIDS and its affect on the African American community.
Nationally, I am a collaborative voice in a newletter that will be published by AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth and Families, that will be published on National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
In this newletter, I address what drives and motivates me to continue to do the work of education, leadership development and activism within the Denver community, in which I'm a part. The work that's done is a personal mission/ministry in order to ensure HIV/AIDS does not become a Rite of Passage for African American youth.
Be Well, Go Well, Live Well, Love Well!
