I am a nursing student at Madonna University. I cannot believe it has already been 30 years since the beginning of HIV/AIDS. In 30 years the awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS has increased tremendously, but we still have so much farther to grow to continue to decrease the numbers of people with this disease. One such way to do that is to continue talking about HIV/AIDS, keep people aware about it. I am so proud of the community I live in because for the past couple of months an effort to increase the awareness of HIV/AIDS has increased. In the metro Detroit area, radio commercial broadcasts have been playing encouraging people to talk about HIV/AIDS and to get tested. What a great way to increase awareness!
