I love the work I do and have 20 years experience in the field, but if I’m compensated at 50% below median income, the love won’t keep me involved in HIV. We don’t take vows of poverty to do this work and as long as funders think of HIV as a “them” disease, we won’t get the funding we need to stop the epidemic.
