New Video Illustrates HIV Treatment Cascade

A new animated video provides a brief overview of HIV in the United States and illustrates how improvements along each step of the treatment cascade can help us achieve an AIDS-free generation.  We are grateful to Gilead Exit Disclaimer for sharing the video, which debuted last fall at the 2012 U.S. Conference on AIDS Exit Disclaimer, the nation’s largest domestic HIV/AIDS conference.

The two-minute video calls viewers to action, focusing on a number of key steps that are consistent with the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.

Read more about the HIV treatment cascade in this prior post or watch a conversation with Dr. Ron Valdiserri and Dr. Kevin Fenton about CDC’s demographic analysis of the HIV treatment cascade in the United States. Finally, read more about The Prevention Benefits of HIV Treatment in this new issue brief from CDC.

  2. Good info and great video. Thanks for posting.

  3. It’s an amazing presentation (Video) and a nice effort by who ever worked on it. I have been a part of the voluntary service from time to time. And it’s so bad when people don’t really appreciate the efforts. But I know that there’s always a greater reward.

  4. I would like to present this video to obtain a copy of this video to include in upcoming presentations (the first will be Feb. 13, 2013).

  5. Thanks for your work on this video. It did make me wonder– as I am HIV-positive (exposed on 12.18.12, seroconversion initiated on 1.3.12, and officially diagnosed on 1.24.12 with a 5.5 million viral load, current viral load pre-ARV down to 1,415), would I fall into one of those categories of not being in treatment, although I have a doctor I attend regularly and am apart of volunteer study tracking my viral load and CD4 numbers– which have remained incredibly healthy.

Also, I would be interested in talking with you, and possibly sharing link-space with you on on my blog– current visitors for Feb to my space is almost 7k and the engagement numbers are impressive. However, first and foremost, I want to challenge the thought-process that a niche group of people like me ARE in treatment… just not on medicine, yet. “Treatment is Prevention.” Actually, Treatment is Treatment – Prevention is Prevention. Right???
