Read All About It: Routine Screening for HIV Infection

PHR - Jan-Feb 2016 issue - image croppedPublic Health Reports Exit Disclaimer (PHR) is the official journal of the U.S. Public Health Service. The January/February 2016 issue Exit Disclaimer offers 16 scholarly articles about “Implementing Routine HIV Screening in Clinical Settings.” This reading list presents data from HIV testing in diverse health care settings, such as community health centers, emergency departments, family planning clinics, and other venues.

Guest editor Dr. Patrick S. Sullivan, and contributing editors Dr. Michael S. Lyons, Dr. Maggie Czarnogorski, and Dr. Bernard M. Branson note in the guest editorial that “As a group, these articles represent an important milestone in the progress of HIV screening implementation and provide a basis for anticipating new challenges in screening for HIV and other infectious diseases as effective treatment, health-care payment structures, medical records systems, and laboratory technologies continue to evolve.”

We hope this reading list is a useful resource. To learn more about offering routine HIV testing, watch this video Exit Disclaimer about using the HIV Testing Sites & Care Services Locator.
